Two of our PG Band multi-instrumentalists, Cadee and Teagan, were nominated and selected to perform alongside the Northshore Concert Band (and Mr. Crylen!) during their February "Lifetime of Music" concert series. The NCB is one of the nation's premiere community bands recognized at the national and international levels for their high level of musicianship. Cadee performed on clarinet, and Teagan on the tuba - congratulations to them both for this great honor!
Congratulations to PG Jazz Band 1 on an outstanding festival performance this weekend at the annual Jazz in the Meadows competition! In only our second year of participating in the largest school jazz festival in the Midwest, we placed top 3 in the middle school/junior high division earning the 3rd Place Trophy! This is a significant honor as the festival attracts the best of the best bands in Illinois and other areas of the Midwest. Additionally, SIX members of the band were awarded an Outstanding Musician award for their contributions to our performance: Nick Y (not pictured), Brecken N, Maggie R, Teagan B, Wylan G, and Josh S. Terrific job, Jazz Band 1!

We are proud to announce that our Prairie Grove families donated 294 cans of soup during our week-long Souper Bowl Challenge. Thank you all for sharing in the fun and helping to stock the shelves of the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.

PG's Jazz Band 1, Advanced Band, and All-State band members had an incredibly successful and busy month of music making throughout January! Jazz 1 performed as the ONLY featured junior high jazz band in the entire country at the Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans, and Advanced Band performed as one of only TWO featured junior high bands in the entire state at the Illinois Music Education Conference in Peoria. Both band's performances received extremely high praise for their outstanding preparation and musicianship! Additionally, we had SIX all-state musicians selected to represent PG in Champaign at the All-Illinois Junior Band festival. Congrats to Cadee, Josh, Maggie, Paige, Teagan, and Wylan on this hard-earned and well-deserved achievement, and to Jazz 1 and Advanced Band for representing our band program so well this month! You all make our school, our community, and our state proud!
Get ready for the "Souper Bowl" service project starting on Monday, February 5th! Students and staff can cast their votes for the Super Bowl winner by dropping a can of soup into designated boxes in the lobby. All donated soup will go to support the Crystal Lake Food Pantry!
